Feeling a little lazy

So I had a great Christmas. I got my oldest son a little bike, he was very happy. My other son is 3 months old, so he didn't really care what he got. My wife made our traditional Chocolate chip pancakes with peanut butter and syrup. It was awesome!

So on the workout front, I haven't worked out since Dec 23rd. I'm having a hard time keeping up with the weight lifting and the half marathon training. I'm thinking about doing one week Weights 3 days a week, and then alternate with one week of just cardio. I want to do both, but I just can't do them both at the same time.

I don't know.. What do you guys think?? Tomorrow morning I'm going to the gym. Not sure if I'm going to do weights or run, but I'm doing something.

Finally Friday

I'm going to do a backwards recap.

Today I was supposed to lift weights for my day 3 of weight traning. But overslept this morning. I might try to get this done tonight.

Yesterday I did 3.1 miles in 27:32.

The day before on Wednesday was my day 2 of Weights.

I did;

push press 50 lbs,
dumble press 45 each side,
dumbell raises 25 each arm
calf raises 270 lbs
side bends 2 sets of 15

On Tuesday I was supposed to run but wasn't able to get out of bed. I set the alarm for 5:30, and just was unable to leave my warm bed.

I'm hoping next week will be better, but it is Christmas week!

Back from Week off

Today I got up early went to the gym. I ran only 1 mile. After that I did some weight lifting. This is what I did.

Power Cleans - 5 sets of very very small weight
Leg Press - 4 sets of 180lbs
Bench press - 4 sets of 70 lbs
Dips - 2 sets of 195lbs, this was a dip machine
crunches - 30 reps

I was supposed to also do calf raises but i forgot. maybe i will do those tomorrow.
Today is the fist day of my new workout plans. I have a weight lifting routine that I will be following 3 days a week. And the Hal Higdon half marathon I will be doing as well (this is to train for the 9 mile race on March 14th). Tomorrow I will run 3 miles. I'm actually pretty excited about the weight lifting. I can say that in the past, I was never really a fan of pumping iron. But I'm looking forward to sticking to the plan.

The final weigh in

Today was the final weigh in. I weighed in at 192.6lbs. my body fat % was 24.9 according to the scale. I won the weigh in. I took home about 38 bucks in cash. The one other guy who was going against me ended up losing 1.4 lbs for the whole 6 months.

I'm glad that I won. I lost 26.4 lbs total in 6 months. Like i said before I'm going to start doing more weight training along with running. ALso I want to start swimming once a week. I'm very happy with my progress. Thanks for the inpiration from my fellow bloggers.

I'm thinking about doing a 9 mile race in March. I will keep you posted on that.

Today I did 5.14 miles on the treadmill in 46 minutes. According to the machine I burned 756 calories. I'm also going to do a jump rope workout tonight. I'm going to keep this short.

ran 3.10 miles in 28:40

I did a 5k this morning. I also did leg press 4 sets of 180lbs. And I did leg curls 3sets of 80lbs. Tomorrow I'm going to do weights for the upper body. I will probably also run at least 3 miles as well.

oh by the way, I'm considering signing up for the Portland Marathon next year its in October. Right near my birthday, what a birthday present that would be.

I lost!!!

So yesterday after running 6.11 miles in the morning. At lunch I ran another 2.22 miles. It turns out my co-worker ran 6.50 miles yesterday and she beat me by 1.27 miles... I was bummed out to lose. I have never been good at losing. But I did 67 miles in November. I don't think I have ever ran that much in a single year. Anyways I'm feeling great about my progress!

Lets get caught up

On Thanksgiving day, I did 4 miles with my nephew. He's 9 years old. We had a good run, but it started raining HARD about mid way through. We pushed through it and finished the 4 iles. The little guy was more prepared than I was he had a jogging suit, long sleeves and pants. I had on shorts and two small short sleeve shorts. When we were done, my hands were like ice.

Last night I did 5.63 miles on the treadmill.

This morning I ran 6.11 miles on the treadmill. So far I'm at 65.42 miles for the month. I have never ran this much in a month before.

Today is the last day of our running competition. I'm currently leading by 3.02.

I also have one full week left of the weight loss competition. I weighed myself last night and I was 190lbs. So I have about 5 lbs to go to meet my goal. I'm looking forward to setting up some new goals after both of the competitions are over.

I have taken the lead!

Today I ran 3.10 miles in 28:21 min; this is my best time for a 5k. Sure it would be different it was outside. But regardless I'm happy. I'm currently 2.46 miles ahead of my co-worker. It looks like I will hit 50 miles this month or more.
Need to keep it up, and hopefully lose some more weight. The running is increasing my appetite; I hope I'm not eating too much. Either way I'm very happy with the progress I have made since June 1st. I was 219lbs, today I weigh 194lbs.

Welcome to the Chaffing Club

This morning I knocked out 5.68 miles. I'm .64 miles behind my coworker!! Need to figure out a way to pass her up. (I got an idea, run more miles than her)
I had a good run this morning. Since I have been increasing my running, I have decreased my push ups and haven't done my jump rope workout as much. Oh well for now I'm enjoying the running. After November I'm going to start including more weight training.

MAN! I have joined the Nipple Chaffing club. Somebody help me! I don't think I'm wearing the right kind of shirts. Thats all I got for today.

Yesterday!

Yesterday I ran a total of 4.47 miles. This was done in two seperate runs. The first run was at 6:45 in the morning in a Forrest... I was up at a lodge during a Marriage retreat with my church. And one of my friends who is an athlete to say the least asked me if I brought running shoes. I told him yes. He wanted to go for a run, so I met him at 6:30am. We went outside and it was Freezing! Windy! and Raining! And it was pitch black, and this was supposed to be a nice stroll in the woods. We waited a little longer to see if the sun would start to shine. So 15 minutes later it was a "little" brigher and we went for it.

It was very cold, windy, and wet. Mid way through the first loop, my glasses started to fog up, so I was having a hard time seeing where my steps were going to be. The good thing is that he was leading and everytime he jumped over something, I knew what to TRY next. A couple times I slipped really bad, but luckily somehow I didn't totally crash and burn. We did 3.25 miles. It was rough, but afterwards once I was done. I realized that I had a great time. Then last night I went with another friend to play some basketball, and afterwards I did 1.22 miles on a treadmill.

It was a great weekend! Oh and I'm 5.32 miles behind my co-worker, I need to make a push soon! I wanted to run this morning, but I was just too tired.

Tree Trunk Legs???

This morning I ran 6 miles on the treadmill, took me 63 minutes.
So since I was a young boy, I have always had what they call "Tree Trunk Legs" People would make jokes about the size of my legs, I would join them in the fun.
But yesterday my wife looked at me and started laughing. I asked her what she was laughing at. And she said your legs are skinny! What a compliment!

My 6 mile run was good this morning. So far I'm less tired compared to yesterday.

Anyways lets get back to business, I have ran 16.13 miles this week. As of right now I'm .59 miles behind my co-worker! Time to turn it up!

At gym at 6:00Am

So I had my Free Fitness Orientation with a trainer today. I was looking forward to it, to get some more information and perhaps some guidance on what exercises I should do. They took my weight and my body fat %. They said my body fat % is 20.2 which I was happy about. We have been taking it at work and I thought it was higher. Who knows its probably somewhere in between.

After that we did some warm up exercises. Then we started doing some core exercises on one of the huge exercise balls. Man I was dying! We did one where you had to go into a plank position with forearms on he ball and then move our shoulders in tiny circles. Then we did another one where I lay on my back and put my feet up on the ball. I had to bring my feet in and point my knees up to the sky! I thought I was going to die... After that we sat down and she tried to sell me a Trainer package. I declined. Too expensive. I didn't tell her that my wife used to be a Physical Trainer and actually worked at 24 hour fitness. But I got a good core workout. After that I ran 1 single mile, and did some chest press with dumb bells.

I would have liked to run more but didn't have enough time. My plan is to run 3 more times this week and try to pass my 16.99 miles from last week.

its a New Week

This morning I did 1 mile on the elliptical machine and 1.5 miles on the treadmill. I weighed in at 195.4 lbs. I have 10.4 lbs to go to reach my goal by Dec 7th. The guy I'm going up against has 7lbs to reach his goal. I'm keeping this short. I ran 16.99 miles last week. My goal is to increase my miles each week.

I cranked out 6.0 miles today at the gym. I'm 3.5 miles behind my co-worker. I'm planning on running Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Hoping to catch up. I'm going to try to keep on slowly increasing my miles.

Now I know for sure that I ran 4 miles

Got up at 5:35 this morning. Went to the gym. Its a 5 minute drive to the gym. I did 7 pull ups!!! I know its not a lot. But I gotta start somewhere.

Then I got on the treadmill and ran for 4.23 miles. The machine said I burned 505 calories. I failed to gather my total time. It was probably somewhere around 42 minutes. Actually in the middle I was trying to change the view of my pace on the treadmill, and I was pressing the pause button and I ended that session. But I gathered my distance at that point and had to start over. I was slightly annoyed by this, but who cares!

I'm 6 miles behind my coworker for total miles.

Converted today into a run day

Last night I went to the local 24 hour fitness and signed up myself and my wife on a Month to Month deal. I was pretty excited! So my plan was to wak up early this morning and get some miles in. I was so amped to go to the gym that I was up at 5 am. Part of that was because infant was waking up too.

So anyways got to the gym, I did 1 mile on the eliptical trainer to warm up and then did 2.5 miles on the treadmill. I was a little light headed when I got off the treadmill. I don't think I was hydrated enough. I got some water felt fine. I ran into a ex co-worker of mine. It was cool to chat with him. So far I'm up to 10 miles for November, Must Run More Miles!

And I plan on playing a little bit of basketball today as well.

Tuesday - Run 3.26 miles and THE HILL

So today I ran 3.26 miles in 41 minutes. This is the same route that I took last week that I thought was 4 miles. Towards the end of the run I was feeling really good. And I started to wonder if I messed up on the route and if it was really 4 miles. turns out it wasn't its only 3.26. Oh well I still took on the hill. It was a pretty good run. My endurance is getting much better. If I had more time I would have ran for a longer distance.

I'm pretty excited, we are going to sign up for a 24 hour fitness today I think. And I'm looking forward to getting access to weights and treadmills.

I started another side competition with another co-worker of mine. She has been running a lot the last 2 years. We decided that whoever has the most miles by the end of Nov will win. The loser has to complete a 7 mile run. SHE'S TOTALLY KICKING MY BUTT! She's at 19 miles I'm at a total of 6.55. I believe that I can catch up with her. But even If I lose I just have to run more which I'm starting to like. thats all I got.

Monday

So last week was kind of weak. I only did my jump rope workout once, i played basketball twice, and ran 4 miles. Saturday and Sunday I did a biggest loser tv workout. So I was pretty active, but didn't run as much as I would have liked. I want to make sure this week I run more.

Today I did my jump rope workout, 6 sets of:

jump rope 100
push ups 10
Jmp jacks 40
squats 15

I did 3 more sets of jump rope. Then I did 75 crunches. I weigh in next Monday, my goal is to be between 192 - 195lbs. I will let you k now where I'm at by then. Tomorrow is a run day for me.

Friday Night

Quick post here: Instead of doing my jump rope, jacks, and push up workout tonight. I found a free workout On Demand. It was a Biggest Loser workout, the well known trainer Bob lead it.
It was a pretty good workout. Afterwards I was sweating pretty good. Right after the workout I did 30 push ups and 60 crunches.

Friday Fall day

Today I played basketball during lunch. I think I fell down at least three times. One time somebody hit me right in the face and knocked my glasses off. Another time I fell on my left side. CLUMSY ALERT!

Oh well, I still got a pretty decent workout. Tonight I'm still going to do my jump rope, jacks, and push up workout with squats.

Tomorrow I'm going to go on a run, hoping for longer than 4 miles.

One of my best runs so far

I just finished a 4.02 mile run. Yes I have to put the .02 in there. It rained and it was pretty windy during the run. I have been pretty hesitant to run in the rain. But told myself today I was going to commit to running no matter what. I took a different route today and it worked out great. Until I was passed the halfway point. I looked up ahead and saw what seemed to be a pretty big hill. This was my first experience with a decent sized hill. I was a little nervous. Once I got to the hill it definitely was harder to keep my pace. I knew I was going to feel it in my calves later on. And I do. I kept on going, I think I walked about 10 steps the whole time and only stopped at cross walks. This was one of my best runs because its one of the longest that I have done in the recent months. And because I was able to finish it with the uncomfortable weather. I'm more confident that I can handle the rain wind and cold on future runs.

Bad basketball

I played basketball for lunch. I played 5 full court games. I think my team won 1 single game! I was getting frustrated... Oh well I got a pretty good workout in. Tomorrow is a run day for me. It will be my first run of the week. Hoping to get in at least 3 miles tomorrow.

Wednesday already...

I have had a slow start to this week. I was supposed to do my jump rope workout Monday night. I didn't. I was supposed to run yesterday but I couldn't. So last night I did my jump rope, jacks, push up workout.

4 sets of jump rope: 80
5 sets of jump rope: 100

6 sets of jacks: 40
6 sets of push ups: 10
6 sets of squats: 10

It was a pretty good workout. My legs are a little tight this morning, but they feel good. Today I will run or play basketball depending on how the day goes. I'm prepared to do one or the other.
I will turn this week around and get some miles in. Still not sure how much I weigh. I was really struggling with wanting to weigh myself last night. Funny how I'm struggling to break this "game rule". Although its not a life or death situation, I still refrained from weighing myself. I will find out on 11/16/09 how much I weigh.

Jump rope, jacks, push ups, squats

Hey hey hey,

So I was supposed to run today. But we were so busy for Halloween. We had a good day trick or treating with my 2 year old son. I didn't run, but tonight I did my jumping jack flash workout.
Here is what I did, 5 sets of:

jump rope: 100
j jacks: 40
push ups: 50
squats: 12

Then I did at least 3 more sets of jump rope after this. This week has been good. I'm disappointed that I didn't get my run in today. I'm one run short for this week. I'm thinking about forgetting about my rest day tomorrow and running in the morning. This so far I played basketball twice, did my jumping jack flash workout twice and ran twice for 6.63 miles.

Overall I'm happy with this week. Looking forward to another good week.

Oh and I have been wanting to incorporate some weight lifting into my workouts. I don't have a gym membership right now. Hoping to join 24hour fitness, there is a nice one very close to our house. We will see how this goes.

So 2 weeks down, 5 more to go till the end of our competition. I still have no idea how much i weigh. I keep on passing my scale and desperately want to know how much I weigh. But sticking to the rules.

It's Friday...Yay...

So today I have schedule my jump rope workout. Yesterday I had a run scheduled, really its on my google calendar. But I didn't get to my run. We were shooting video and taking pictures at work, so I wasn't able to get out. Also it was raining pretty bad. I'm in Oregon so this is very common this time of year. I will have to get used to running in the rain.

Anyways. So today I made up for my run that I missed yesterday. I ran 3.38 miles. The run went well. I did this in 44 minutes. This time doesn't include stopping points at traffic signals. Still need a fancy watch/hrm/distance counter/timer.

I was happy with the run. Afterwards I felt like I could have ran harder and faster. So I guess thats a good thing. It's getting easier. So I'm still going to plan on doing my jump rope/jacks/ push ups workout tonight. And another run tomorrow.

3.25 miles

Today was a run day. I ran 3.25 miles, I did this in 45 minutes. It was a great run. I increased my pace a little bit but I still felt great after the run. A little after the mid way point, I stepped right at the edge between the sidewalk and grass, and I turned my ankle. But it it happened so fast that I didn't feel any pain. I'm still on track to sticking to my plan. I did 105 push ups today and some crunches <-- (didn't count these)..

I'm feeling like I'm going to have another great week.

Jump rope, Jacks, 100 push ups

Hello everybody, top of the morning to ya.
This morning I did 100 push ups and my Jump rope, Jack, pushup workout. I did 5 sets of

jump rope - 100
jacks - 40
push ups - 10

I did 2 additional sets of jump rope after this. Also I'm planning on playing basketball today, and I still plan on playing on Wednesday as well. This week is starting of well. I'm feeling like I'm making good progress. I still don't know how much I weigh. Everytime I pass my scale at home I want to weigh myself, but still sticking to the rules or our little competition. By the next weigh in I need to be about 192.4 lbs to be on track with reaching my goal. I'm guessing I'm about 197 right now.

oh one side note, the NBA season officially starts tomorrow!!! I'm excited!!

1 Week down 6 to go...

Today is Saturday. I did a 3.1 mile run today. I felt really good during the run. I didn't feel overly winded at all. While I was on my way back home. I was running next to a fence and saw my shadow. (This might sound corny) But when I saw my shadow it didn't look like me. It looked like somebody who is thin. I was so used to being 220-230 and higher for the last 9 years or so. Right now I'm guessing I'm around 200 lbs. It feels good to know that I have made some good progress. But I do have more work to do.

So this was the first week I have followed my new plan. I ran 8.95 miles this week.
I did 2 of my jumping jack flash workouts. I played basketball on Wednesday, and I did push ups and crunches from Monday through Friday. Actually I did yesterdays crunches today.
Tomorrow is my rest day. This was a very solid week for my workouts. But I have to let this week go and just keep looking forward. Next week I plan on doing 10-12 miles. Since I can't weigh myself due to the "rules" of our weight loss competition, I'm guessing that I weigh right around 200lbs. If this is true I have 6 weeks to lose 15 lbs to reach my goal weight.

3.1 mile run

I finished a 3.1 mile run today. I took Boomer's advice and ran at a slower pace. This worked out well I felt very good throughout the run. And I feel like it was a pretty good workout.
I tried the pledge of allegiance out loud and after a few words I couldn't remember the rest of it! I guess its been a while since I was reciting that. I then resorted to the ABC song since I'm so used to singing that to my son. If anybody heard me they most likely thought I was weird. The singing didn't last long, but my breathing and wind was much better.

Tomorrow is my jump rope, jump jack, push up workout. Saturday is another run. I'm thinking about running a little longer on Saturdays. We will see how it goes.

Basketball Day - Weight loss competition

I played about 4 full court games today during lunch. I got a pretty good workout in. But I'm sticking to my plan. I still need to get my push ups and crunches in today. Tomorrow is another run during lunch.

So I'm still in the Weight loss competition at work. I have so far lost 17 lbs since June 1st. We changed the rules a little bit to make it more exciting. So we are down to just 2 of use who are going at it. We decided that we will no longer weigh ourselves weekly. But we will have a weigh in a month from now. And then on the last weigh in on for the Finally. We decided that whoever is closest to their goal weight will win. I have 17lbs to lose in 7 weeks! That is an average of 2.4 lbs per week! I'm hoping to have some really good weeks. I have decided to cut out coffee from my diet, to help cut down on extra calories. So now its game time! If you have any tips that would help please share them.

2.75 miles for lunch

To all of my Fitness Followers....

I did a 2.75 miler outside during my lunch break today. It was a great run. Man my endurance seems so bad! But I just need to stick to the plan. I have put together another plan and I have filled out my google calendar with my workouts. this has helped me so far to stay accountable. Here is the break down for each week:


Sunday: REST
Monday: push ups, crunches, jump jack
Tuesday: Run lunch: push ups, crunches
Wednesday: basketball: push ups, crunches
Thursday: Run lunch: push ups, crunches
Friday: push ups, crunches, jump jack
Saturday: Run early morning

So far I have followed everything from Sunday to Tuesday. Sunday night I did my jumping jack workout.


I still have my eye set on this goal of 185 lbs, it seems so far away. But just need to take it one day at a time.

Getting back on track!!!

Yesterday I played some more full court basketball during lunch. I played about 4 games. It was a good workout. I was sweating big time, the last game I ran out of gas.

Today:
I just finished one of my jumping jack flash workouts (is that name lame?)
I did 4 sets:

jump rope: 80
pushups: 10
jacks: 30

Then did another 2 sets of jump rope. I was pretty tired after this. Its been a while since I have done this workout. I finished off with a few crunches. Just a few!! I'm glad I got a workout in today. Trying to get under that 200lbs mark by Tuesday.

I ate Basketballs for lunch

I played some basketball today at lunch. Played about 5 full court games. I was sweating like a pig in Texas when I was done. I think I got a pretty good workout in. Don't have much more to post now. Still not quite under 200. I'm at 201.8 as of yesterday. We have 8 weeks left of the weight loss competition. Want to get to my goal of 180lbs.

2.8 mile run w/ some walking

I just finished a 2.8 mile run during lunch. It feels good to be done. I was pretty winded during the run, but feel pretty good now. I need more runs like this. I'm hoping to run 2 more times before Saturday. My eating hasn't been that great. It was my birthday this past weekend and ate Pretty DARN good! I feel like I'm going to struggle to get under 200 by tomorrow. We will see.

2.5 mile run

Today when I woke up I was pretty sore from playing basketball. That means that I'm somewhat out of shape. Ohwell its a good sign that I got a decent workout. Today for lunch it was a nice day. I went for a 2. 5 mile run. I wanted to do 3 but I had to change my route midway and only endedup doing the 2.5. I feel pretty good though. My goal for next Tuesday is to be down 3 lbs that will put me right under 200lbs.

Basketball today

I haven't falled completley fallen off the wagon but I haven't ran since I last said I did. I did play some full court basketball during lunch. I played about 4 games. I got a pretty good workout.

Here is my plan for the rest of the week. Please follow up with me.

1. Run 3 miles tomorrow morning.
2. run 2 miles Saturday.
3. Jump rope jumping jacks on Sunday.
4. Also do push ups and crunches every day starting tomorrow.

Currently at 202 lbs. I need to get back under 200 soon. Then my next milestone will be 190lbs.

push ups and crunches

Today was a very light day for my workouts. All I did was 64 push ups and 80 crunches.
Tomorrow I plan an actual 3 mile run. Last time I ran 2.8 miles. I'm feeling like I'm getting back into a groove. Now If I can get a better handle of my eating I will be in better shape. My weight is maintaining the 198 - 199 lbs mark. I'm looking to meet the 190 lbs mark. That is my next milestone.

2.8 mile run

I just finished my run. Turns out I only went 2.8 miles. Oh well it was a good run. I did walk a little. At the halfway mark, I walked and I walked 2 other times on the way back. When I was just getting started I turned a corner and a lady was coming right at me on a bike. I jumped out of the way and she hit her breaks pretty hard I thought she was going to fall over. Good thing she didn't. When I was about to turn my last corner at the end. I saw a snake on the ground. Just a garden snake but I jumped over it. I'm not a fan of snakes. I live in Oregon so its not that uncommon to come across one. Overall the run was good. I finished it in 29.36 minutes.

So this is my third run in 7 days. My endurance isn't the best but I'm hoping it will get better.

Looking forward to running longer distances. Now my plan is to do 130 crunches.

Push ups and Crunches

I didn't get a run in today. I have been busy being a father of my 2 year old and my 9 day old baby.

So I did 54 push ups. I know it doesn't sound like a lot. but I'm' following the 100 pushup plan. At the end of the 6 weeks, I should be able to do 100 pushups straight.

Then I did 112 crunches.

Tomorrow I really need to get a run in. Planning to go for 3 miles at 1pm. This is my older son's nap time. Wish me luck!

2.8 mile jog/walk

I just finished my 2.4 mile jog/walk. I jogged for the majority of the way. It took me 27.45 minutes. Man its hard to get back on track after going 32 days without running...

Oh well, it feels good to log a couple of more miles under my belt. It was a hard run, i think I ran too soon after I ate lunch. I will be back on soon posting more miles.

Ouch eeeek, ouch!

to whomever is reading this:

Today I actually got off my butt and went for a job. I jogged for 2 miles. It took me 21 minutes. Thats a long 10.5 minutes per mile. It's been a very busy week. My 2nd child was born on Tuesday Sept 22nd. I'm a very happy father of two boys.

As you know It's been a little while since I have really pushed myself in my workouts. But today I had enough. I can tell that I'm gaining some of the wieght that I have lost. Quick reminder. June 1st, I weighed in at 219 lbs. That was day one of my weight loss competition. The last time I weighed in was on Sept 21st. I was 198.6. That's a loss of 20.4 lbs. But get this. It has been 32 days since I have been running! Thats over a month. That is way to long.

I only went out for 2 miles and I really felt it. My legs were heavier I started feeling side aches. It wasn't good. But I feel great that I finished it. I have been in the competition so far for 118 days. My main goal is to to get to 180 lbs. I'm guessing that I weigh about 200 lbs right now.

My short term goal is in the next 16 days ( the next time i wiegh in) to be at 197 lbs. This will put be back on track back to my lowest weight since the competition.

I don't have a 10k that I'm going to run. I just wanted a plan that I can stick to that has consistent cardio. So far this is my plan.

Whats wrong with me?

I did 35 push ups this morning and 60 crunches. What's wrong with me? I guess this is better than nothing but I need to kick it up a few notches. I told my wife that I have been following these blogs of guys who do triathlons and run tons of miles and do windsheild wipers for their core. She responded by saying how can you read these blogs when you are hardly doing anything for your workouts. My eyes grew wide, "how dare she challenge me on my workouts." But soon enough I realized that she was right.

I NEED TO START RUNNING AGAIN JUMP ROPING AGAIN JUMPING JACKS.

Its been a while

Its been a long while since i have posted any updates. Thats because my workouts have slowed down a lot. I have been doing push ups this week and crunches. But I haven't done my jump rope workout in a while. My job has been getting more hectic. I haven't had much energy. But for the most part I'm probably just making excuses. I need a pick me up. Anybody out there got any ideas???? Help! Help? I need to get back on track.

Its only Tuesday

I had a very busy day at work today. I was very tired when I came home. But I managed to get my workout in.

Jump rope = 1000 jumps
jump jacks = 240
push ups = 135

the jump rope is such a great workout. I'm going to sleep good tonight. My plan this week is to go 7 days with a workout like above. I'm also doing dumb bell workouts throughout the week.

Those are chest press, up right rows, flys, tricep curls, oh and dips.

More Garage time w/ Chest press and tricep curls

I just finished another Garage workout. I went a little lighter on my reps since I ran this morning. This week I'm starting to incorporate more dumbbell workouts. Today I did chest press and triceps curls.

My head is sweating as I type this. I'm pretty fired up about crossing the 200lbs mark in my weight loss. I'm looking forward to losing more weight come Monday of next week.

Tomorrow I will do more circuits of jump rope, jumping jacks and push ups, but no dumbbells tomorrow.

Oh I have been thinking to get the p90x dvd set by end of September. Our new baby boy will be arriving next month! And hopefully a set of 13 dvds from beachbody will be arriving also. But believe me I'm MUCH more excited about my new baby boy!

Monday's are for Weigh ins.

Just a quick update -
I weighed in today at work. I'm 199.2 lbs!!! Yeah baby, I have broken the 200lbs barrier. I'm pretty excited. This morning I went for a 2 mile run. Could have been slightly under 2 miles.

Tonight I will resume my Jumping Jack Flash workouts along with some dumbell stuff.

Sunday Garage Time

I just finished my jumping jack flash workout. I did the following;

480 jump rope jumps
320 jumping jacks
120 push ups and 4 sets of curls.

I'm sweating pretty hard, my muscles definitely feel worked out.

Guns Guns and more GUNS!!!

Yesterday a bunch of my friends from church went out shooting. We had 20 guys are out there. We had skeet shooting competition along with a pistol target competition. I didn't advance to the second round in any of the events! Oh well. It was only my 2nd time shooting. we had a lot of fun.

The skeet shooting was awesome! Although I didn't get any of the clay pigeons. But every time somebody blew up one of those unfortunate pigeons it was AWESOME!

Anyways Friday night and Saturday night I had some awesome workouts. Jump rope, push ups, jumping jacks and shoulder press with dumbbells. I'm about to go now to get another similar workout in. I plan to go for a run tomorrow morning, the weigh in day!

Jumping Jack Flash

i Just finished my workout. I did jump rope 520 jumps. 240 jumping jacks. 120 pushups. shoulder press. I'm really trying to break this 200lbs mark. a week ago i was down to 200lbs. but since last week I gained 3 lbs.

Monday is my next weigh in. I hope the scale is on my side. We will see. I got a couple of compliments from friends saying that I look good. One said that I have been inspiring him. That was good. I want to inspire people.

2nd day in a row with a run

I haven't written anything lately. I am still exercising. I was in California visiting my parents. Then after that I had to go to Vegas for work. So its been a little challenging to keep my workouts up. Even though there are challenges. I have lost more weight. I'm down to 203 lbs. Getting closer and closer to my goal of 185.

Since I started the competition at work I have lost 15 lbs. We still have 18 weeks left. I am confident that I will get to my goal weight.

Yesterday I woke up at 5:50 and went for about a 2 mile run. It was great. This morning I did it again. I want to see how many runs I can get in before Monday my next weigh in. I have done some reading on dean karnazes this guy is amazing! It shows how much of the work is all in the mind.

I still haven't gotten the P90x. I'm not sure at this point when I will get it. It probably won't be till September. Its OK I'm happy with the weight loss that I have achieved.

I won the weigh in!

We weighed in this morning. I lost 2.4 lbs since last monday. I'm now down to 206.2. I'm excited to meet 200 lbs face to face and then pass it on by. What I have done so far is do cardio around 4 times a week. Either in the form of jogging, or jump rope and jumping jacks. I'm also doing pushups and crunches almost every day.

I have also cut out soda from my diet. And I'm not eating fast food or eating late at night.
Its been really rewarding to see the weight drop off. Also we have added 2 more folks to our weight loss competition at work. Its great to see other people wanting to strive towards health and fitness.

This wednesday I'm planning on ordering my P90X dvd set! I have said before that I wanted to be around 205 before i started p90x which is working itself out.

I think I want to start increasing my cardio soon. but not sure I will have that much energy once I start p90.

Push ups are fun

Yesterday I didn't get a cardio workout in. By the time I got home from work I was pretty exhausted. But right before bed I did 100 push ups and 75 crunches. I had a light sweat going on after, it felt good. The weekend is going to be pretty busy. I'm hoping I can go on some runs. On Monday morning I is my weigh in with my competition at work.

I'm in first place. I have so far lost 4.89% of my weight. I'm hoping it was all fat. My body fat % is at 29.1. When we started the competition it was 31.5.

My rival in the competition is holding on to the fact that he has the highest percentage of loss in one week. Even though I'm currently in first place. I'm hoping to win this Monday. The person who loses the most % wins, and the other contestants need to pay $2.oo. Monday I will post my current weight... wish me luck!

I'm going to change my gym membership soon. I'm looking forward to doing swim workouts. I'm a very weak swimmer.

Yesterday July 10th 2009

Yesterday morning I set my alarm for 5:30am to get up and go for run. I didn't roll out of bed for a while. I left the house at 6:15am. I went for about a 2 mile jog. I need to get one of those fancy distance/calorie tracker devices. The jog was good. I did stop about 3 times during the jog. I'm hoping to make the 2 miles without stopping.

There were a couple times were I came across people jogging with their dogs. Without Leashes! I always wonder If I get attacked while on a run will I have enough energy to out run the animal. Probably not.

The trail that I took there is a bridge over lake. And its all surrounded by trees. Its cool to be out there when there is nothing around to make a noise. Anyways...

Today I'm hoping to get a run in or something at my local gym tonight. Looking forward to getting my P90X next week..

July 8th - 208.6 lbs

Today I did 100 push ups and some crunches. At lunch I played basketball with a group of guys that go Mon Wed Friday. I'm in a competition at work with 2 other guys who are trying to lose weight. I weighed in on monday and I was 208.6 lbs. This is our 5th week. I have won 3 out of the 5 weeks. Although I lost 3.2 lbs from last week, i still didn't win. We are going by weight loss %. One of the other guys is talking a lot of trash, saying that I'm going to lose again next week. I really have to step up my game. My plan is to wake up early and go for a run in the morning.

I have been working out with cardio since april 27, 2009. April 1st I weighed 228 lbs. My goal weight is 185.

Also I'm planning to get the P90x in a week from today. My goal of this blog is to write updates on my fitness and efforts to get to my goal weight. I also want to inspire other people. I believe that if I keep my posts updated, I'm also creating an additional level of accountability.

I have been reading a blog by Jeff and Boomer for a while. These guys have inspired me!
